Discern the signs of the times
64Lord of Lords
The day of the Lord
M't:16:3: And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?
Not only was Jesus the King of Israel but was also the Prophet of Israel, and also the only one to hold both seats at the same time through genealogy and family blood lines. Just like all the prophets in the past, Jesus also prophesied and here is one of them.
M't:24:3: And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
Three questions Jesus was asked.
1)Tell us, when shall these things be?
2)what shall be the sign of thy coming?
3)and of the end of the world?
M't:24:4: And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
M't:24:5: For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
M't:24:6: And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
M't:24:7: For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
M't:24:8: All these are the beginning of sorrows.
M't:24:9: Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.
M't:24:10: And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
M't:24:11: And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
M't:24:13: But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
M't:24:14: And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
M't:24:15: When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
M't:24:21: For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
M't:24:22: And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
M't:24:23: Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
M't:24:24: For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
M't:24:25: Behold, I have told you before.
M't:24:26: Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
M't:24:27: For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
M't:24:28: For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
M't:24:29: Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
M't:24:30: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
M't:24:31: And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
M't:24:32: Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
M't:24:33: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
M't:24:34: Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
M't:24:35: Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
M't:24:36: But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
M't:24:37: But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
M't:24:38: For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
M't:24:39: And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
M't:24:40: Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
M't:24:41: Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
M't:24:42: Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
M't:24:43: But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
M't:24:44: Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
M't:24:45: Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
M't:24:46: Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
M't:24:47: Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
M't:24:48: But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
M't:24:49: And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;
M't:24:50: The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,
M't:24:51: And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Jesus is coming to destroy the wicked and begin his reign on Earth
2Th:2:7: For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
2Th:2:8: And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
Re:11:18: And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.
Re:19:11: And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
Re:19:12: His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
Re:19:13: And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
Re:19:14: And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
Re:19:15: And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
Re:19:16: And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
Re:20:2: And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
M't:25:31: When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
M't:25:32: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
2Pe:3:12: Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
Re:20:6: Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

My understanding of Revelation shows that the church of Philadelphia will be kept from the hour of testing (Rev 3:10). You quote the scriptures that show one will be taken and one left behind (the rapture). Yet, you don't believe in the rapture.
I stated on your other hub that there are two descriptions of Christ's return in the New Testament: 1) the way He left, which was peacefully in the clouds, and 2) coming on a white horse with the saints to fight the final battle of Armageddon. I believe the church will be kept from the hour of testing, the Great Tribulation. We will be "taken out of the way".
If I understand what you're saying, you believe after the tribulation, people are caught up in the air and others left behind, yet the Lord and the saints reign for 1,000 years at the same time (would this not be on earth?) If we are to reign with Him on earth, why be caught up at all? Why leave the earth at all?
I wondered who the evil nations will be that assemble against our Lord and the saints when Satan in released at the end of the thousand year reign. I suppose it would be those "left behind" in the rapture, and their subsequent nations? Just a few questions for you.
An afterthought ~ what about the "thief in the night"? That's hardly coming on the clouds riding a white horse with the saints to fight the battle of Armageddon? If you don't believe in the rapture, you obviously won't be looking or ready when it happens, brother.
I like this hub always more scriptures than opinions.
I like what it says in Matthew 24 quite precise from Gods mouth.
I must say that I looked up "thief in the night" and indeed Revelation mentions this in Chapter 16:15, which is during the tribulation period. That might be why some believe the rapture is mid-trib. The first resurrection is not mentioned until Revelation 20:5. If we are to "not see the hour of testing" (Rev 3:10) or to "escape all these things which are about to take place" (Luke 21:36), this may be referring to the Woman led into the wilderness, who is protected in Revelation 12.
One thing we know is that God compares the Day of the Lord to that of Noah and Lot. The righteous were spared, and He tells us to be watchful so we're ready to do what He tells us to do, as were Noah and Lot...and thus the parable of the 10 virgins. Amen.
In the days of Noah the people that were taken, were taken in the destruction, the people that were left, were left to live, they got into the ark (Messiah) and lived, they obeyed GOD and were left HERE on the earth to live, the ones taken were taken and destroyed. THIS IS THE DIFFERENCE. People who believe in a pre tribulation rapture have this backwards is all, once you tell them this, hopefully they will see. If you are taken in a flood, everyone knows what that means, if you are left in a flood, they know what that is too. LEFT ALIVE. “The water took John and Billy away and they drowned.”
No place does it say that HE is coming again and then again after that. Being ready just means to be about THE LORD'S business. Then no matter when HE returns, we will be told "well done, I see you are busy doing MY business and not your own."
We must understand how a Hebrew Messiah thinks and taught, as well as HIS follower did, Westerners think like one, not like a Hebrew, so they “interpret” the scripture in a Western mind set. This just has to be taught to them. They do not understand Hebrew poetry either, I mean, how could they???
Hebrew always told things like several times but with different pictures, but it was still the same story line. I can do the same thing today, tell a story about an event 3 different ways.
Psalm 91 is all about massive tribulation on earth and HIS people not being removed, instead they are kept under the shelter of THE ALL-MIGHTY...so come what may, they are by definition SAFE.
Judah's Daughter said: "One thing we know is that God compares the Day of the Lord to that of Noah and Lot. The righteous were spared, and He tells us to be watchful so we're ready to do what He tells us to do, as were Noah and Lot...and thus the parable of the 10 virgins. Amen"
Exactly right...and none of them left the earth to be spared, they just were ready because they followed orders...we are soldiers, few follow orders.

To many today running around trying to "FIGURE OUT" when He is coming, THE LORD warns against this practice. No man knows the day or the hour, that means NO MAN, nobody can figure it out!!! SO QUIT IT ALREADY.
He does not want us bothering even to try, like silly minded, hand wringing little children trying to "figure out" when daddy is coming home after daddy told us He does not know when.
If as much time was spent "doing HIS business" as it is "hand wringing"...the church would no be such a mess!!!
Just give it a rest, carry on with HIS business and watch and be on guard, at the ready position always!!!
To say that one "knows it will be before the tribulation" is to say that you know when He shall return...and YOU do not, none of us do.
If you are ready and doing HIS business and NOT your own then>>>>>WHO CARES WHEN HE IS COMING?????

Very valuable Hub! Thank You.
Here is the point above all other points and one that no person who is a Rapturite that I have seen can refute.
Now this is Messiah praying here, so it might just carry a wee bit of weight OK?
"I'm not asking you to take them out of the world,
but to keep them safe from the evil one...They are not part of this world any more than I am...Make them pure and holy by teaching them your words of truth...I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me because of their testimony."
Well there it is, in HIS very own words, and HE does not contradict HIMSELF once HE says something, right?
Read it again and tell us where HE asks for us to be taken out of the world.
Shalom
What about 1 Thess. 4:14-18? Is this Scripture not based on the Rapture theory? As well as 1 Thess. 5:9; as it states that God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him. I for one, do believe in The Rapture theory, although not sure whether it is pre-tribulation, but I tend to think it will be at the mid-tribulation point. Based on Scripture, right before the Antichrist stands in the Holy place claiming himself to be God. (Rev. 11:15) states; at the sound of the seventh angel, which is the 7th trumpet, and this goes right along with 1 Thess 4:16; And right after this scripture says that: "The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign forever and ever. The next Scripture depicts the Mercy Seat, and all the saints of all time standing before the Mercy Seat of Christ receiving their heavenly rewards. Revelation Chapter 11 verse 2 and 3 depicts the 3 and a half year point.
This is my interpretation of the Rapture. That Jesus will take us (The Church, Body of Christ, Saints, The Elect) out right before Satan possesses the antichrist and causes everyone to follow the mark of the beast. Revelation 12 and 13. But....Scripture does not make this rapture theory truly clear. As Revelation 13:7-8 says that it is given to the beast to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given to him over all kindreds, tongues, and nations. All who dwell on the earth shall worship him whose names are not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world.
So....as you see, it is totally up to us to always be ready having on the full armor of God as we know not when or if we will be taken out of this earth shattering tribulation. Thank you so much for your postings!!! Very thought provoking and educational. Blessings! ~ K
